Lynne Crowden's British Hanoverian licensed stallion Woodlander Wild Child will be standing at the Celle State Stud in Germany for the 2020 breeding season.
Woodlander Wild Child is an embryotransfer bred 8-year old by Wavavoom (by Weltregent x Longchamp) out of double Young Horse World Champion Woodlander Farouche (by Furst Heinrich x Dimaggio).
Breed Champion from the Start
Bred and owned by Lynne Crowden at Woodlander Stud in the U.K., Wild Child was highly successful at breed shows in the U.K.
He held the record high score for the Futurity as a foal and became the 2011 WBS - UK Supreme Champion. In 2013, he was the top dressage two-year old and was licensed for the Hanoverian society and WBS - UK.
Sport Career on the Back Burner
He had no real career in sport. In 2017 Wild Child stood in Germany, where he was shown once in a local show under Thomas Szestopalow, winning an L-level class. In 2018 he returned to the U.K and did some local shows at medium level with good scores.
"He was with Ingo Pape and they didn’t really have a rider to show him, but trained him well," Crowden told Eurodressage. "(In 2018) I looked for a rider for him as he was working advanced, but (there were) no good riders who wanted to ride stallions. Wolfhard Witte rode him when Brockmann came to look at him and did a great job. So it is an ideal move for me to have him at Celle in a partnership, and get training and competition. He has stood at stud for four months in 2018 and 2019, but with no easy access to being trained at the higher level. Finding riders to train stallions at the higher level is virtually impossible."
With many top riders based in the U.K., Eurodressage wondered why Crowden struggles to find good riders. "Money is not the issue. It’s the wish to ride a stallion as they want them castrated," she replied frankly.
German Attention
At the 2019 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden, Crowden received the Golden Badge of Honour from the Hanoverian society for Lynne's successes in breeding and commitment to sport horse breeding in England and especially to British Hannoveraner breeding. There it was announced that Wild Child would move to the Celle State Stud.
In 2019 Wild Child had three licensed sons (Wild Love, Wicked Game, Woodstock/Wedgwood) successful in the stallion performance test with two winning the dressage results . This peaked the interest of German breeders for Wild Child.
