The Amsterdam based Maria van den Dungen won the 2009 Imperial Riding Cup Finals in Almelo, The Netherlands, on June 28, 2009.
Aboard De Havikerwaard owned licensed pony stallion Rembrandt DDH (by Renoir), Van den Dungen won the first round (70.74%) and also placed first in the Kur to Music finals (73 %) to take the lead in the final standing.
The 2009 Imperial Riding Cup Finals were the final selection trial for the Dutch team that will compete at the 2009 European Pony Championships in Moorsele, Belgium, the first weekend of August. Dutch pony chef d'equipe Christa Laarakkers also observed the Dutch pony riders in Weert and De Steeg and will be announcing the team this week.
The resere champion on the Imperial Riding Cup finals is 13-year old Dana van Lierop on Equestricons Lord Champion (by Le Champion) with a minimal point difference to the champion. Her average score after two rounds was 72,38%. In Almelo the third best performing rider was shooting star Julia van Schaijk on Den Ostriks Dailan (by Leunsveld Lord) but it was Antoinette te Riele and Danny Boy B (by Flying Dream) which took third place eventually in the final ranking of the 2009 Imperial Riding Cup.
Maria van den Dungen won the 2009 Imperial Riding Cup Finals with 89 points. With only one point difference Dana van Lierop finished second on 88 points. Winner of the provisional rankings, Antoinette te Riele, placed third with 86 points.
