A sad setback for the Americans. The only American combination, Jennifer Hoffmann and Rubinio B, had to withdraw from competition at the 2009 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany, August 6 - 9, 2009.

Hoffmann's Westfalian licensed stallion Rubinio (by Rubin Royal x Florestan) injured himself at the show after yesterday's morning training session.

"I had an excellent final morning training session yesterday, but when I returned in the evening for Rubi's night check, I noticed a very swollen front leg," Hoffmann told Eurodressage. "After consultation with my long time veterinarian, Dr. Peter Cronau, it was confirmed that Rubi had a broken splint bone."

Jennifer is devastated and heartbroken over this incident, especially considering the continuing weeks of harmonious training sessions and excellent successes, which she has achieved together with Rubinio during her stay here in Germany. But the good news is that the prognosis is excellent and the veterinarian has confirmed that Rubinio can go back to work in four weeks.
