Hermes de Mariposa was proclaimed champion of the 2010 BWP Stallion Licensing in Moorsele, Belgium on Janiary 16, 2010.

Nineteen BWP branded stallions in total were accepted for the third phase of the licensing, an in-hand and under saddle presentation. Ten non-BWP show jumping colts and two BWP registered and six non-BWP dressage stallions were also approved.

On the first selection day (Thursday, January 14), the selection committee decided that all candidates were allowed to continue the selection procedure on the second day, i.e. all stallions were given the opportunity to show their ability in loose jumping or free movement. A few candidates dropped out after that test.

Hermes de Mariposa (by Canturo x Powerlight) is bred by the renowned Herman de Brabander and descends from the famous Trezebees mare line. Hamilton van de Mispelaere (by Wandor van de Mispelaere x Skippy II) was proclaimed reserve champion despite his poor jumping in freedom on Saturday.

Twelve stallions were sold at the first BWP stallion licensing auction. The price highlight was Horion de Libersart (by Cardento x Voltaire). Breeder Yves Geron sold the colt for 34.000 euro to Luc Tilleman, Koen De Waele and Lieven De Vos. The average selling prize was 18,500 euro.

Friday night two new BWP ambassadors, Nabab de Rêve and Flamenco de Semilly, were honoured during the BWP Stallion Gala Presentation. The BWP society also proclaimed several stallions "elite": United, Breemeersen Adorado, Vinesse, Action Breaker and Bufero van ’t Panishof.

After the last inspection on Saturday, January 16, 38 candidates survived the various selection tests. They are invited to participate in the third phase, which is due to take place on 10-13 March 2010 in “De Warre” in Neeroeteren.
