Winning Finish for Constand and Bon Bravour at Final Belgian WCYH Selection Trial

The 5-year old Constand and the 6-year old Bon Bravour were able to produce a winning finish at the last Belgian selection trial for the 2012 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany. The last selection show was held in Zandhoven on Saturday 9 June 2012 and drew out a huge group of competitors who aimed to improve their ranking.

In the 5-year old division Isabel Cool and the Dutch warmblood gelding Constand (by Vic x Jetset D) won the Finals Test with 80.40%. They stayed only a fraction ahead of Katrien Verreet on the Oldenburg licensed Bailamos Biolley (by Sir Donnerhall I x Florestan) who were the runners-up with 80 points. Nick van Laer and the black stallion Sir Donovan (by Sir Donnerhall x Weltmeyer) completed the top three with 79.200 points.

"Constand was top in Zandhoven," Cool told Eurodressage. "He stayed cool despite the wind blowing heavily and flags clapping next to the ring. Constand has a super show mentality which is important to move ahead in the sport. The trot went well, but needed a bit more fine-tuning, the canter was super, nicely uphill and with a constant contact with the bit. We still need to work on the walk to get more activity but I'm super happy about the performance."

Tom Franckx and Bon Bravour In the 6-year old division Tom Franckx and the Dutch owned licensed stallion Bon Bravour (by Painted Black x Chronos) were unbeatable for the fifth time out of their five starts on the circuit, assuring him of a ticket to Verden. With 84.000 they stayed well ahead of Katrien Verreet on the grey licensed SBS stallion Galliani Biolley (by Sir Donnerhall x Lanciano), who was second with 76.00. Guillaume Ducos and the Dutch warmblood Bestseller VDT (by Ungaro x Ferro) slotted in third with 73.80 points.

"Bon Bravour felt really good," Franckx commented. "Like always he was very willing to work and that the period of rest did him really well."

Six selection trials were held during the spring show circuit in Belgium and the best results of 5 shows counted towards the ranking for Verden. The two highest scoring horses on the ranking will become the Belgian representatives at the 2012 World Young Horse Championships in Verden on 1 - 5 August 2012. The qualified pairs and reserves will be announced on Monday evening 11 June 2012.

In the 4-year old division in Zandhoven, Larissa Pauluis and the Dutch owned Dorelja L (by Vivaldi x Calypso III) topped the leader board with 77.80 points, while Mieke Dries and the SBS bred Champione van de Kempenhoeve (by Sir Donnerhall I x Weltmeyer) were second with 76.00. Mercedes Timmermans and the Oldenburg gelding QC Star Performer (by Sandro Hit x De Niro x Rubinstein) finished third with 75.60.
