2012 Global Dressage Forum

Developments in training systems will be in the spotlights during the 11th Global Dressage Forum on 29-30 October 2012 in Hooge Mierde, the Netherlands. The newly created Global Dressage Foundation, presided by Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte of Denmark, presents a program with demonstrations by some of the most successful Olympic riders and trainers. Practical demonstrations will be presented by several Olympic top riders, such as Helen Langehanenberg, Patrik Kittel and Ingrid Klimke.

Silver medal winner Adelinde Cornelissen from Holland will present a sensational new approach to fitness. “Only a well trained and fit rider can inspire its horse towards top performance”, says Cornelissen, who recently demonstrated her fitness program for a crowd of thousands of horse fans at the Horse Event in Deurne.

With her partner, jumping rider Sjaak van der Lei, horse photographer Arnd Bronkhorst and the team of Tjalling van den Berg, a top trainer from gymnastics, Adelinde demonstrated how she prepared for the Olympic Games in London. A versatile training program, including core stability exercise, balance acts with balls and even boxing was displayed by Adelinde, who told her audience that her total lack of disappointment when she was told that she did not win the gold medal in London was a result of her physical training program.

“I did not lose gold, but I won silver”, she told. “My personal trainers have learned me that I can only do my best, and I should not bother about things on which I have no influence, like judges scores”.

Surrounded by fans and press representatives, who tried to get a critical remark on the judging from her lips, Adelinde did give not one negative reaction after her Olympic ride, but stayed controlled and very happy with her silver medal. “The psychological training, which is connected to my physical training program”, is one of the elements I want to explain during the Global dressage Forum”, says Adelinde.
