The renowned Oldenburg breeding and Grand Prix dressage stallion Blue Hors Romanov has been sold to Edward Gal's sponsor Gaston Glock from Austria.

Bred by Harli Seifert, Blue Hors Romanov is by Rohdiamant x Grundstein II x Akzent II and is one of six licensed full brothers out of elite mare Rumirell. He is a very popular breeding stallion in Denmark and has proven to make an excellent cross with Don Schufro mares.

Trained to Grand Prix level by Andreas Helgstrand, Romanov was first competed at the highest FEI level by Sune Hansen. In September 2011 Edward Gal took over the ride in attempt to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games, but Gal was able to qualify the Dutch warmblood gelding Undercover for the Dutch Olympic team and Romanov stayed home.

The gorgeous dark bay stallion Romanov has been competed at four international Grand Prix shows in 2012: CDI-W 's Hertogenbosch, CDI Munich CDI Rotterdam, the Dutch Championships in Hoofddorp and CDI-W Odense.

In order to secure Gal's ride on Romanov sponsor Glock acquired the stallion from Blue Hors, which is owned by Danish billionaire Kjell Kirk Kristiansen. Sales negotiations started after the couple achieved an 81% kur score at the 2012 CDI-W Odense in October 2012.

"Of course we have somewhat mixed feelings about selling Romanov to Gaston Glock," said Esben Möller, director of Blue Hors Stud. "Romanov will be 13 years old this year, so hopefully he has many good years in the sport ahead of him. The co-operation between Edward Gal and Romanov has worked perfectly and I couldn't imagine which rider would take over the stallion if he were to come back to Blue Hors."

Romanov sired the World Young Horse champion Honnerups Driver and 2009 World Young Horse Championship finallist Skovens Rafael. He was proclaimed Danish Stallion of the Year in 2011.
