The Celle State stud owned Hanoverian breeding stallion Alabaster has passed away at age 26. He was euthanized after his condition worsened caused by a tooth infection .

"The last few days his health suddenly deteriorated so badly and quickly that we decided to put Alabaster down," said the Celle state stud. "Alabaster's care taker Ingo Beiser stayed loyally by his side until the end."

Born in 1989, Alabaster was bred by Friedrich Oppermann and first owned by Werner Schockemohle. He was by Akzent II out of Waleska (by Wendepunkt x Busoni xx).

Alabaster did his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 1992 and scored 127.50 points to finished sixth out of 55 participating stallions.

The chestnut stallion was first competed in 1993 by Rudolf Rehkamp but in 1994 Johannes Westendarp took over the ride and steered the stallion to victory in the 5-year old division at the Bundeschampionate. In 1995 the stallion came in training with Rudolf Zeilinger who competed him until 1996. His last show was in May 1996 at Prix St Georges level when the stallion was 7 years of age.

Alabaster stood up for stud at the Ihlienworth stallion station and was still demanded by breeders until the very end. He sired 32 state premium mares, 60 auction horses and 12 approved sons. His most famous licensed sons are Abanos, Alassio

His most famous offspring were Isabell Werth's Apache OLD and Hayley Beresford's Jaybee Alabaster.
