The Danish owned Oldenburg licensed breeding stallion Hoftanz has been gelded and will continue his competition career under Norwegian dressage rider Isabel Bache in Germany.

Hoftanz' owner Lone Boegh Henriksen announced the news of the horse's castration on Facebook. The 11-year old Hoftanz is by His Highness x Rotspon x Weltmeyer and is approved for the Hanovarian, Oldenburg, Rhineland, Westfalian and Danish warmblood society.

"We want him to focus on sport," Henriksen told Eurodressage. "He was always so stallion-behaved that it sometimes was too difficult for him to concentrate. It works perfect with Isabel and we look forward to seeing them in competitions."

Henriksen acquired the Hanoverian branded Hoftanz as a 2,5 year old for 120,000 euro at the auction of the 2006 Oldenburg Stallion Licensing in Vechta, Germany. She initially kept the stallion in training with Johannes Westendarp who had discovered and reared him. Westendarp competed Hoftanz in the 2009 Bundeschampionate qualifiers but the horse never went to Warendorf.

The stallion moved to Denmark late 2009 and was first trained by Louise Estrup. She took him to the 2009 Danish Young Horse Championships but withdrew him from the consolation finals. Later on he was brought to Grand Prix level by former Danish team rider Michael Sogaard. At the 2014 Danish Dressage Championships Sogaard and Hoftanz were 20th in the Grand Prix Special, at the 2015 Nationals they finished 18th in the Grand Prix Special.

Henriksen and Sogaard ended their collaboration in the summer of 2015 and Hoftanz was shipped to Paul Schockemohle's yard in Muhlen, Germany, to collect frozen semen before his castration. Isabel Bache, who also rides Furstenball for Lone Boegh Henriksen, will also train and compete Hoftanz.
