For the first time a German Children's team has been selected to represent Germany in a Nations Cup competition in the brand children's division. Germany will have a full team competing at the 2016 CDIO Hagen Children's Nations Cup on 9 - 12 June 2016.
The German Equestrian Federation announced the German Children's team following an official training seminar held at the headquarters of the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) in Warendorf.
Twenty-five combinations from ten provinces in Germany participated in this training seminar and youth riders team trainer Hans-Heinrich Meyer zu Strohen selected a team at the end of the clinic.
Germany will be represented at the "Future Champions" competition at the 2016 CDIO Hagen by:
- Anna Derlien - Apriori
- Helena Ernst - Rose
Magi - Caroline Locklair - Coop Royale
The first reserve is German pony rider Valentina Pistner who has also been contesting the Children's division aboard dorina.
Seven German combinations will also be contesting the regular CDI-CH division. They are:

Summer Rose - Paula Franz - Sir Rubin
- Antonia Gress - Desperado SV

The Children's division is for children ages 12-14 riding ponies or horses at L-dressage level. The division has been instated two years ago to promote dressage in countries where pony sport is not very popular. In 2015 the first European Children's Championship took place in Vidauban, France, from which top dressage country Germany was remarkably absent. 2016 will be the first year that Germany will actively be participating in the Children CDI classes.
