The Dutch warmblood licensed keur stallion Sir Sinclair has been named the USEF #1 Sire of Dressage Horses for the second consecutive year, with 68 offspring receiving points, including an incredible 20 showing at FEI level in 2016.
Sir Sinclair's offspring earned 8,744 points on the 2016 ranking, with the second placed sire, Diamond Hit (by Don Schufro x Ramino), standing at 6314 points. The Oldenburg Contango (by Contender x Kronprinz xx) ranked third with 5718 points, while the Hanoverian bred Contucci (by Caprimond x Lungau) placed fourth with 4170 points. The legendary Oldenburg Sandro Hit (by Sandro Song x Ramino) completed the top five with 3914 points.
"When you buy a young stallion based on their bloodlines, athletic ability and temperament, you hope they will be successful in sport and will make a positive impact on the sport horse industry with their genetics," explained Sir Sinclair's owner Mary Alice Malone, "but there are no guarantees. So to have Sir become a successful FEI horse who's siring so many winning Grand Prix horses is simply incredible."
Sir Sinclair (by Lord Sinclair x Flemmingh) himself won at national Prix St. Georges level after a career as a young horse that included the title of the 2005 USEF National Champion FEI Young Horse (Six-Year-Old). He also competed at the 2004 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, where he finished 15th in the consolation finals under Dorie Addy-Crow. Although Sir learned all of the Grand Prix level movements, his competition career ended when he was diagnosed with lyme disease.
Offspring gathering points for Sir Sinclair's Number 1 spot on the USEF site ranking are: Dee Clair, owned by Diane Morrison, and ridden by Anna Marek. This horse became the 2016 GAIG/USDF Region 3 Grand Prix Champion and also placed third in the Grand Prix Freestyle. Zania, owned and ridden by Jami Kment, earned the Grand Prix Championship at the GAIG/USDF Region 4 Championships. Zuperman, owned by Leona Pollack and ridden by Kathleen Raine, was reserve champion in three CDI Grand Prix classes in 2016. Zuperman and his owner also won Grand Prix classes in the amateur division. Honor, a 4-year-old gelding bred by Linda Smith. Honor and rider Ashley Duran, won the 2016 USDF Training Level Junior/Young Rider Horse of the Year (median score 72.273%), as well as the GAIG/USDF Region 4 Championship at Training Level with a score of 74.866%.
