Australia's WEG team horse Bluefields Floreno has not made the journey back down under after Tryon, but went to Germany to be sold.
The 14-year old Baden Wurttemberger bred stallion by Florencio out of Riffifi (by Royal Black x Akzent II) has been sold to the German amateur rider Elisabeth Morell.
Floreno was bred in Germany by Jörg Rapp and licensed privately as a breeding stallion in 2008. He never did his Stallion Performance Test but was accepted based on sport results in Australia in 2013.
Floreno was imported into Australia by JJ Fuchs of Bluefield Farms.
The stallion made his international show debut at small tour level in 2014 under Janina Kletke and competed at the CDI's in Orange and Sydney with three victories out of four starts.
Floreno then disappeared from the scene to return at Grand Prix level in 2017 under former Under 25 rider Alexis Hellyer. In 2018 they won at the CDI's in Bawley Point, Brisbane and Boneo and were selected on the Australian team for the 2018 World Equestrian Games.
In Tryon, Hellyer and Floreno had a rough WEG start, getting referred to the holding box and then the horse was up for re-inspection before the start of the competition. They made the trot up and finished 49th in the Grand Prix with 67.360%.
After Tryon, Floreno flew to Germany and was sold. The Hamburg based Elisabeth Morell is a national level Grand Prix rider. She has been competing the 13-year old Rhinelander mare La Lopez (by Lord Loxley x Boss) at S-level and 16-year old Westfalian gelding Number One (by Libero H x Ramiro) at Grand Prix level in 2018.
Hellyer and JJ Fuchs have also ended their collaboration after Tryon. Alexis is looking ahead to the future with new youngsters.
"We were based out of Tessa Frank's barn (in Germany) training and then they mad the choice to sell," Hellyer told Eurodressage. "I have a 7-year old, Doris Day (by Desperados x Florencio), showing great talent for Grand Prix and we purchased a couple of youngsters in Germany." She declined to comment further on the sale of Floreno, but said she and Fuchs "parted ways."
