Olga Ivanova Wins 2019 Russian Under 25 Championships

Olga Ivanova became the winner of the inaugural Russian Under 25 Championship hosted at the New Century riding club in Moscow on 22 - 25 May 2019.

Six combinations competed in the 2019 Russian Under 25 Championships and the overall winner was decided over three rounds. 

Aboard Inessa Merkulova's 14-year old Latvian warmblood Avans (by Aromat out of Gagra), Ivanova secured the overall title by scoring 66.941% in the Intermediaire II, 68.949% in the Short Grand Prix and 71.450% in the Kur to Music.

Ivanova has been riding Avans since the spring of 2018, taking over the ride from Stanislav Sherednichenko, and she competed him at the 2018 European Young Riders Championships in Fontainebleau, France, where they finished 19th in the Kur to Music finals. Ivanova turns 22 in July. 

The 24-year old Ekaterina Volonchunas and her 15-year old Rhinelander mare Louise La Belle (by Louis Le Bon x Weltfeuer) were the silver medalists after scoring 65,324% in the Inter II, 65,641% in the Short Grand Prix - 68,250% in the Kur. Louise La Belle has been Volonchunas' international equine partner since 2013 taking her from young riders to Grand Prix. The pair has never competed outside Russia and Belarus. 

The 23-year old Anna Serova landed the bronze aboard the 15-year old Russian bred Pergam (by Pirkh x Imbir) after earning 65.000% in the Inter II, 64.154% in the Short Grand Prix and 69.100% in the freestyle. Serova and Pergam have had an interesting international path in the past. She has only twice competed the horse internationaly: in 2014 at young riders level at the CDI Ryazan and once in 2017 at Under 25 level at the CDI Moscow at Maxima Park. Pergam is owned by Lyudmila Rusina.
