Guatemalan Team Selected for 2019 Pan American Games

The Guatemalan Equestrian Federation has selected the team that will represent Guatemala at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru on 23 - 28 July 2019. 

Guatemala, a country known for the “land of the eternal spring” is roch with a diverse indigenous culture and a Mayan heritage. Located in Central America, is one of the top worldwide countries with the youngest population, nearly half of Guatemalans are under the age of 19. 

The Guatemalan Dressage Team for the 2019 Pan American Games includes three riders under the age of 32, the youngest team in Central American History. They will be captained by FEI judge Isabel Herbruger as chef d'equipe.

Guatamala will be represented by :

  • Andrea Schorpp (29) - Zedrick Dyloma, a 15 year old KWPN gelding by Goodtimes x  Dreamstreet
  • Alexandra Dominguez (23) - Etanga, a 10-year old KWPN mare by Wynton x Crosby
  • Isabel Arzu (32) - Macchiato, a 12-year old Westfalian gelding by Montmartre x Ehrensold

Schorpp is based in Colorado, U.S.A. and will be competing in her fourth Pan American Games. Dominguez is based in Wellington, Florida, and has represented Guatemala most recently at the 2018 Bolivarian Games. Arzu also rode at the 2018 Bolivarian Games and is the newest member of the Guatemalan team.

"We are eager to show the world what effort, passion and discipline can accomplish; excited to compete alongside with great and experienced riders," Herbruger told Eurodressage. "Above all we are proud to represent our beautiful country Guatemala with a team of young riders with great future ahead of them."
