The 31-year old Philipp Klingbeil has been appointed breeding director for the Westfalian society and will start his job on 1 January 2020.

On 13 November the Westfalian board of directors agreed to appoint Klingbeil as the new breeding director.

Klingbeil holds a Bachelor in agricultural engineering at the University of Kassel and a Master of Agricultural and Equine Science at the University in Göttingen. The past two years he has been an assistant in the administration office of the Saxonian state stud in Graditz. Between 2013 and 2017 he bred horses himself.

Klingbeil replaces Wilken Treu, who steps down as general director and breeding director of the Westfalian society on 30 November 2019. Treu is to become the head honcho at the Hanoverian society.

The 36-year old Thomas Münch was already named the ad-interim breeding director to cover the transition period between Treu and Klingbeil. Münch will become the marketing director.

With the departure of Treu, the Westfalian society decided to split the head management function into two jobs: a general manager and breeding director.  The general manager position had been allocated to Carsten Rotermund (44).
