The Oldenburg Horse Centre in Vechta, Germany, has received a one million euro subsidy to aid in renovation costs.

The Oldenburg Breed society (GOV) is housed at the Oldenburg horse centre in the Grafenhorststrasse in Vechta and is a heavily used venue for Oldenburg breed related shows such as the stallion licensing, mare performance tests and numerous auctions throughout the year.

The provincial government of Lower Saxony has agreed at its board meeting on 19 December 2019 to award 1 million euro subsidy for renovation and construction to the centre in 2020.

"This is a strong sign towards the horse town Vechta," said Dr. Stephan Siemer who represents Vechta as a CDU member in the provincial government.

Heiner Kanowski, managing directer of the Oldenburg Horse Centre, said that a 3-million euro renovation and reconstruction of the centre is planned for next year.
