2007 Turnier Der Jungen Pferde

Eurodressage correspondent Barbara Schnell attended the 2007 Turnier der Jungen Pferde at the Riding Center Kühnen in Krefeld, Germany, last weekend. Schnell made a special presentation of photos which she took at this young horse event for Eurodressage.com.

It was the 21st "edition" of the "Turnier der Jungen Pferde" (Competition of the Young Horses) in Krefeld, a show that over the years has seen its share of later stars -- among others, Nadine Capellmann's Elvis won his first advanced test here in 2004.

This year, however, there was also an impressive demonstration of the skills of a fine crop of young riders, who more than once left seasoned professionals far behind. Most notable were last year's European Team Dressage Champion Annabel Frenzen, who won two tests, and Anna Katharina Luettgen, who turned Lamboghini's second advanced test into his second gold ribbon at this level. And -- Danish Grand Prix team member Fie Skarsoe even came all the way from Luxembourg to compete here.

Anna Katharina Luttgen on Lamborghini Annabel Frenzen won two classes, one "Dressurpferde A" for four-year-olds aboard Fiasco, and another one for five-year-olds aboard Louisdora (by Louis le bon), a mare who was bred by her father and coach Achim Frenzen.

The show's two advanced tests (for seven- and eight-year-olds) are ridden with a single bridle as a natural follow-up for the other tests for young dressage horses. Among the seven-year-olds, Lamborghini and Anna-Katharina Luettgen were the only pair of the whole show to hit the 70-%-mark. It was the second advanced test for this pair -- and the second victory.
