Classical Sales Warendorf heads into the new year with a new format. For the first time, the auction, which has established itself as a firm fixture on the elite auction scene in recent years, will be held in the autumn, while the sales week, a recent addition to the CSW portfolio having first been staged in 2012, will be brought forward to the spring.

“We are renowned for coming up with and implementing fresh ideas,” said Fabian Scholz, who launched Classical Sales Warendorf together with Pferdewirtschaftsmeisterin and Grand Prix trainer Susanne Miesner. “We had been considering for a while the best timing for each of the two events, and we reached this decision.”

The exact dates for the sales week, during which approximately 20 horses will be available for clients to try out on a daily basis and offered for open sale, will be announced shortly. There are two selection days for potential candidates, both held at the Wietelshof near Warendorf: 16th January, from 4pm onwards, and 20th January, from 10am onwards.

“Breeders and owners who believe that they have horses matching our CSW criteria are warmly invited to show them to us”, said Scholz. “We are exceptionally lucky in that we are able to be very selective, as the interest has always been huge in past years.”

The ideal CSW horse is a highly-rideable 4 to 8-year-old, working at an appropriate level for their age, trained according to the principles of classical riding, and who has been brought up in a respectful manner. Health and soundness and top-quality movement are the two remaining factors: “As happens with the auction, for the sales week we choose horses of extraordinary quality”, concluded Susanne Miesner.

Chile, USA, Switzerland, Luxembourg and England are just some of the destinations for recent CSW purchases. Some of the most famous former auction horses are the Florencio offspring Freak Blue Phantom who, under Kristine Moeller, placed in the top ten at both the Bundeschampionate and at Verden’s World Championships for Young Dressage Horses, and Haller’s Dessino, who represented Austria at the London Paralympic Games under Thomas Haller.
