Dutch warmblood licensed stallions Vivaldi, Johnson, Rousseau, and Painted Black will be proclaimed preferent sire at the 2018 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch on 2 February 2018.
The "preferent" title is the highest a licensed stallion can earn. He already has to be a keur stallion. His offspring needs to be at least 11 years old and contributed to a sport index of 140 points or higher with a reliability of 85%. The way the stallion passes on conformation and stamps his male offspring contribute in a stallion potentially earning a preferent predicate.
The 16-year old Vivaldi (by Krack C x Jazz x Ulft) is one of KWPN's most popular dressage stallions. Under Hans Peter Minderhoud he won the Pavo Cup Finals and competed up to international small tour level. He never showed at Grand Prix and was retired from sport in 2013. Vivaldi's most famous offspring is the Grand Prix stallion Cennin (Madeleine Witte-Vrees) and licensed sons Dream Boy, Expression, Eye Catcher, Chinook and Desperado.
The 21-year old Painted Black (by Gribaldi x Ferro x Officier) won the silver medal at the World Young Horse Championships under Anky van Grunsven. She took him to international Grand Prix level and then sold him as a schoolmaster to Spanish Morgan Barbançon Mestre, who rode the black at the 2012 Olympic Games and 2014 World Equestrian Games. He retired from sport after the 2015 European Championships. Painted Black's most successful offspring is Grand Prix horse Zingaro Apple. His most famous licensed son is Bon Bravour.
The 20-year old Rousseau (by Ferro x Roemer x Homerus) was the KWPN licensing champion and sold at auction for 300,000 euro to Hilltop Farm in the U.S.A. Under Nicolette van Leeuwen (Van Lierop) he won silver at the World Young Horse Championships and became the runner up in the Pavo Cup Finals. The stallion then moved to the U.S.A. and disappeared from the competition area. His most famous Grand Prix offspring is Zippo (Patrick van der Meer) and his most famous licensed sons are Zack (Daniel Bachmann) and Ampere. Rousseau is no longer standing at stud.
The 16-year old Johnson (by Jazz x Flemmingh) was 14th at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen. He won team gold and GP Special bronze at the 2015 European Championships.
