Dutch B-squad rider Jeannette Haazen has lost the ride on her only Grand Prix horse, Dabanos d'O4. Owned by Denis van Dingenen, the 15-year old Belgian warmblood gelding was picked up and brought home in March.
Dabanos d'O4 is by Abanos out of Sandra de Malois (by Donnerschlag x Lurano). He is bred by Victor Vansant in Geel, Belgium.
Under Denis Dewagenaere's grand daughter Ona, the hot and sensitive yet very talented Dabanos made his international show debut at small tour level at the 2012 CDI Hagen. Two months later he made the move to Grand Prix level at the CDI Compiègne.
Ona competed Dabanos until the spring of 2015. Their last show together was the CDI Roosendaal where they were 14th in the Grand Prix with 66.320% and 6th in the Kur with 68.950%. After that, Ona decided to give the ride on Dabanos to her trainer Jeannette Haazen.
The highly experienced Dutch rider made a connection with the hot gelding and took him to unprecedented levels. They made their show debut one year later in Roosendaal in 2016, also starting with scores in the high sixties, but in 2017 they regularly scored between 71 and 72% at international Grand Prix level, which earned them a spot in the Dutch B-team. Haazen rode her last CDI competition on Dabanos in December 2017. The pair did two national shows in 2018 with solid seventy percentage scores.
Horses.nl reported that the horse was already picked up in March, but the decision from Dewagenaere family came suddenly and was a great blow for Haazen. Dabanos initially moved in training with Haazen to be sold, but a sale never happened.
"Ona has indicated that he'll stay with her for indefinite period and she'll then decide what she is going to do with them, Haazen told Horses.nl. The Belgian rider did not want to comment on her decision.
