Belgian Grand Prix and Olympian Jorinde Verwimp was urgently hospitalized in Lier, Belgium, on Thursday evening 18 October after falling off a client's horse and losing consciousness.

Verwimp's horse spooked, tripped over his own legs, and both fell. An ambulance was immediately called to the scene and transported her to the hospital. She was initially in a coma but has now regained consciousness.

"She is alert again, talking and remembers everything until the fall," Jorinde's father Wim Verwimp stated. "She's doing much better and wants to come home tomorrow to help her students at the show. That's what she said. She's wondering why she's in the hospital as she doesn't feel any pain. Next week she planned on showing in Exloo and wants to participate for sure. That's how we know her."

Jorinde will have to stay in the hospital under observation until the beginning of next week.

Jorinde, who  is religious about always wearing a helmet, told Eurodressage, "I have some headache but for the rest I'm ok. I have to understand some more tests."
