The 2014 Dutch Dressage Championships, which count as observation trial for the Dutch WEG team selection, will take place in a different format than normal. Only the scores of the Grand Prix and Kur to Music will count to determine the new Dutch Grand Prix Champion.
The 2014 Dutch Championships are scheduled to take place in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, on 30 July - 3 August, the same weekend as the 2014 European Pony Championships in Millstreet, Ireland.
It has been decided that the best 12 combinations of the expected 25 participants in the Grand Prix on Friday 1 August will move straight to the Kur to Music on Sunday 3 August. All other combinations as well as the riders with their second horse will be contesting the Grand Prix Special.
"We chose this format because the horses aiming for the World Equestrian Games in France are doing a lot of tests," said team trainer Wim Ernes. "Also the riders consider this a better format as it is less strenuous for the horses."
