The 2021 Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing, which includes a full programme of CDI classes, a gala show, an auction, and young horse tests, will not take place in Herning.
The stallion licensing will continue in a small scale version at the Danish national equestrian centre in Vilhelmsborg.
70,000 people in Herning
The Danish breed extravaganza in Herning normally attracts around 60,000 to 70,000 visitors per year. However, because of the corona pandemic and uncertain regulations about the possibility for mass meetings, the organizers have been forced to cancel the Herning event.
Casper Cassoe, director of the Danish warmblood society, stated that "we waited as long as possible to make the decision, but not we have acknowledged how the world is developing and it is unthinkable to make the event in Herning in March happen. Not at all because there is no financial basis for it, but more so because of the rules of assembly at sporting events."
In March 2020, the Herning stallion show was one of several corona super spreading events in the area.
Event Moves to Vilhelmsborg
The 2021 Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing will move to Vilhelmsborg and the licensing of dressage and jumper colts will be split up.
The dressage colts will be licensed on 8 - 14 March and during the same week there will also be a stallion parade, the young horse championship, and a CDI 3.
The following week the jumpers will meet in Vilhelmsborg.
