While Blue Hors stud is closing its doors on 1 April and has sold off its entire horse stock through a series of auctions, today the Danish stud announced to have bought Helgstrand's 4-year old licensed stallion Viva Vegas.

Viva Vegas is a 2020 born Hanoverian stallion by Viva Gold out of Rhododendron (by Rock Forever x Florestan). He is bred by Annette and Simon Bürgers.

DSP Reserve Licensing Champion

He became the reserve champion and premium stallion at the 2023 DSP Stallion Licensing in Munich and sold at auction for 420,000 euro to Helgstrand in Denmark.

The Oldenburg verband approved Viva Vegas a week later and the Hanoverian society in February 2023.

In March he was accepted at the 2023 Danish warmblood stallion licensing in Herning and went on to become the winner of the Danish Warmblood autumn stallion performance test, scoring 892 points. He earned 8.5 and 9 for rideability, 8.5 for walk, 89 for trot, 9 and 9.5 for canter and between 9 and 9.5 for potential.

Danish warmblood requires all colts to be re-presented as 4-year olds and at the 2024 DWB licensing he was proclaimed champion of the "older" stallion group.

Blue Hors Buys at Helgstrand

Blue Hors has made a drastic move to downsize, selling their entire stock except the best breeding stallions and GP horses, as well as fire the majority of the staff, and putting the Randbol property up for sale. A small capsule of top horses remain and will move to the Stutteri ASK yard on Fyn, also owned by the Kirk Kristiansen family, after the Olympics.

Today Blue Hors announced that it has bought Viva Vegas at Helgstrand Dressage.

When asked if there is still room to buy new horses, Blue Hors breeding director Martin Klavsen told Eurodressage, "Blue Hors still wants horses of high quality, and this is a horse with huge potential in sport and very interesting for breeding. And we are very happy to keep this horse in Danish hands."

Rider Nanna Merrald is thrilled with a new horse to her string, "he gave me a fantastic feeling because he quickly and effortlessly collected and extends when you ask for it. He has lots of energy and drive and at the same time he is totally cool and calm in the stables."
