Elite Pony Stallion Charivari Passed Away

The Weser-Ems bred licensed pony stallion Charivari passed away on Monday 15 January 2024 following a colic attack. He was 24 years old. 

Charivari was by Courage out of Amsel (by Constantin x Benedict x Red Wing). He was bred by Otto Kamper and in-bred on Constantin both on the sire and dam line. 

Licensing Champion

He was purchased as a foal by August Ellers and presented at the 2001 Weser-Ems Pony Stallion Licensing, where he was named Licensing Champion.

Charivari did his 30-day stallion performance test in Prussendorf and scored 7.95 points. He was allowed to breed for the Welsh pony society and German riding pony breed societies. 

He received the main premium in 2005 and was named elite stallion in 2012. He stood at stud at station Ellers in Emstek, where also Constantin stood.

Charivari was never competed in sport, according to the German equestrian federation. 

Legacy

As a breeding stallion, he sired no less than 16 licensed sons and 5 state premium daughters. Son Canthari WE was Wester Ems licensing champion in 2009.

For sport he 104 offspring registered in Germany. Charivari was a very versatile producing stallion and he sired offspring competing in dressage, show jumping and driving. 

Most of his offspring went on to jump, but his most famous dressage get on the international scene are Belgian and Danish team medal winning pony Terbofens Charico (Alexine Herweijers, Cornelia Munch Sinding) and Cappuccino Tyme, a third ranked stallion at the 2007 Weser Ems licensing and internationally competed by Clarissa Stickland (FRA). Call Me Carlchen competes in Germany at small tour level under Andrea Boox.
