2022 Danish Pony Championship

Danish team rider Cornelia Much Sinding crowned herself champion of the 2022 Danish Pony Championships held in Hovding, Denmark, on 19 - 21 August 2022.

Fifty pony pairs travelled to Hovding for the Nationals, which consisted of two rounds: the team championship test and a Kur to Music finals for the 15 top scoring pairs. The points of both rounds were added up to decide the final ranking.

Aboard her long-time pony partner Terbofens Charico, a 13-year old German Riding pony by Charivari x Contendro), Sinding ruled the first round with 76.872 and kept all competition far at bay. She widened her lead even more by winning the freestyle final with 79.950% to claim the title and champion's sash with a total of 156.822 points.

After last year's silver medal, Cornelia finished her last year on ponies with gold. She already has three horses lined up to take her into the junior division as of 2023.

"Yesterday I had a very good round because he was with me all the time," Sinding told Ridehesten. "Today he was back on good form, maybe a bit tired, but I'm super happy with both riders and Charico's performance."

It were the members of the Danish pony team that won team bronze at the 2022 European Pony Championships in Poland at the beginning of the month which dominated the National Pony Championships.

Selma Ludvgisen and Pernille Orum's 12-year old Egelykkes Perfetto (pedigree unknown) became the runners-up after placing third in the first round (72.359%- and second in the kur to music (74.775%). They totalled 147.134 points for silver.

Josephine Gert Nielsen and her 8-year old German bred stanienhof Crimson Gold (by Kastanienhof Cockney Cracker x Tetworth Crimson Lake) slotted in third overall. She was second in the first round with 74.898% but dropped to seventh place in the freestyle with 72.100%. Her total of 146.998 points still put her on the bronze medal earning step of the podium.

Also the smaller, category two ponies, had a national championship at FEI pony level that weekend and the gold medalist was Amalie Juliane Danvad Fredbøg on Spirit-Kick (by Clausholm Donatello x Attention). They rode a winning freestyle score of 78,175%. The silver went to Silje Bjørk Gram on Thers Royal Rooster (by Brynithon Teifon x Thorneyside the Terminator), while the bronze was for Sofia Rosenkilde on Timms My Fritz (by Grenzhoehes My Fireball X Orchard D'avranches).
