Der Euro Lets Euro roll at 2002 Vechta Spring Elite Auction

At the 56th Elite Auction for Oldenburg sporthorses in Vechta in Germany, the number one of the auction set the pace for a Euro-spending auction. Catalog number one, Der Euro, was sold for a record price of 300,000 € or 600.000 DM, a never precedented highlight for the Vechta auctions.

The chestnut gelding by Don Schufro x Wanderer was sold to Joan Sims from Highlife Farm in Florida. Mediating contact for Joan Sims was the Vechta ground crew's most beloved American president of the Oldenburg Verband, Holly Simensen. Simensen already lured many top buying Americans to Vechta, but this time the auction hit gold with her Florida contacts. Joan Sims completey equipped her new Highlife farm with auction prospects.

Second most expensive mount of the 56th auction was Superstar. The black gelding by Sandro Hit x Dakota II was sold for 252,000 € to billionaire Sissy Max-Theurer from Austria. Her daughter, Victoria Max Theurer, was the 1999 bronze medallist at the European Junior Riders Dressage Championships.

The show jumper Prezioso S, by Pilox x Syndikat, was good for 71,000 € and was also sold to the United States. The bay mare Pik Lady, by Lady's King x Atatürk, was the most expensive brood mare sold. For 30,000 € she is also moving to Highlife Farm.

Twenty out of 60 auctioned horses will fly to the United States and 34 out of 60 are sold abroad. The average price for an Oldenburg sport horse purchased at the 56th Elite auction was 37,592 €.
