At the 2002 Dressage With The Stars Australian Young Horse Championships, a very interesting lot of youngsters presented itself. Judging the finals was German Young Horse master Dr Ulf Möller
, who's an active propagandist in Australia for the PSI horses he trains and sells in Hagen, Germany. At the Australian Young Horse Championships, Moeller correctly chose the best ones for the top three.
In the 4-year old division Shane Davidson won the trophy aboard Fairbanks Pavarotti, an Australian registered stallion by Carl Hester's Gullit owned by Russell and Helga Davidson. Pavarotti beat Jaybee April, who won the final test but totalled 227.4 points, the second best score overall. In third position were Michelle Buckley with Don Giovani.
In the 5-year old age class, a wonderful chestnut presented by Matthew Dowsley claimed the highest honours. Ferrero Rocher, a Florestan x Weltmeyer named after a chocolate candy, is such a sweet horse in the ring (pictured above). In the finals Ferrero Rocher received the high score of the day, 95 points.
In second position were Reiner Kramer and Jaybee Amanda (by Aachimedes). This elastic horse is owned by Sharyn McCombe and ridden by Mornington Peninsula professional rider Reiner Kramer. Katie Eggleton and her Hanoverian Brentango II (by Brentano II) came in third
The winning 6-year old was routinier Mayfield Pzazz, a KWPN offspring by Jazz x Amulet imported by Mary and Rob Hanna and purchased by Kerry Mack as a 2 year old. Pzazz was second at Dressage with the Stars in 2000, and now claimed the blue ribbon. Scoring 95 points in the finals, Pzazz created a considerable distance in the overall score in comparison to second placed Kate Boyes on the gorgeous Paso Doble (pictured left). The imported KWPN Paso Doble (by Jet Set D x Esteban) scored 90 points in the finals under Kate Boyes. Third placed were Sally Evans with A'Seduction.
