The Spanish dressage team is suffering a set back leading up to the 2010 CDIO Aachen. Two of the potential team horses have sustained minor injuries and will not be fit on time
for the biggest dressage competition of the year before the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
Spanish equestrian website Top Iberian reported that Jordi Domingo's 11-year old Dutch bred Prestige (by Ferro) slightly injured himself right after the CDI Wiesbaden in May but was back doing conditioning work. Unfortunately the black gelding became unlevel again during a morning gallop on the track. The veterinarian advised Domingo to pick up work again in two weeks.
Juan Manual Munoz Diaz' Andalusian stallion Fuego XII is also off from work due to a small hoof problem and will not be in Aachen. Fortunately it has been indicated that both horses should be fine for the 2010 World Equestrian Games.
Spanish chef d'equipe Bobby Fernandez de Bobadilla informed Eurodressage of the team that will represent Spain at the 2010 CDIO Aachen
- Claudio Castilla – Jade de MV
- Rafael Ortiz – G-Nidium
- José Mª Sánchez Cobos – Fogonero
Beatriz Ferrer-Salat and her super star Delgado (by De Niro) will be competing in the CDI tour. At Aachen the Westfalian gelding will only be doing his fifth Grand Prix test in his career. "Beatriz does not want to have too much pressure so she is competing in the CDI tour," de Bobadilla told Eurodressage.
