Victoria Max-Theurer and her star ride Augustin OLD (by August der Starke) won the international Grand Prix at the Easter CDI in Stadl Paura, Austria, on Saturday 23 April 2011. After a day of freestyles in the youth riders divisions, won by Lena Charlotte Walterscheidt, Antoinette te Riele and Angela Krooswijk, Max-Theurer put the icing on the cake with a 74.77% winning Grand Prix score.
Placed sixth on the FEI Riders Ranking, young Victoria put the bar high with her test aboard the massive Oldenburg which was bred by her mom Sissy Max-Theurer at Castle Achleiten in Austria. "I am very happy with our ride," said Victoria. "I wanted to ride a safe round and that's why I hadn't risked anything. Perhaps it could have been a little bit more swinging."
Canadian Belinda Trussell is back in Europe for a spring show tour and placed second at her first CDI. Aboard the Saxonian bred Anton, Trussell scored 69.23% Germany's Heike Kemmer is back in the big time with her rising star Quantico (by Quattro B x World Cup I) and scored 68.19% to place third.
In the youth riders' classes the individual Kur to Music finals took place on Saturday. In the pony division Lena Charlotte Walterscheidt completed a hattrick by winning the kur on her tall bay pony stallion Lord Champion (by Le Champion) with 77%. "He is fearless and has very good gaits," Walterscheidt commented on her pony. "Especially the canter went very well, so I started the freestyle with it. Lena plans to ride her pony next at the Preis der Besten.
Aboard her Hanoverian mare Fleurie (by Florestan) Dutch junior Antoinette te Riele also claimed her third trophy of the weekend by winning the Kur with 73,67% despite a few mistakes. Dutch young rider Angela Krooswijk finally surfaced at the top in the freestyle, receiving 72.95% from the judges for her freestyle aboard the bay Oldenburg Revino (by Rohdiamant).
