Beate Wedermann's Hanoverian branded Don Frederic (by Don Frederico x Wolkenstein I x Liberty M) was named the champion of the 2011 Mecklenburger Stallion Licensing at the State Stud in Redefin, Germany, on 23 - 26 November 2011.
Twenty-eight colts out of 57 presented were approved. Remarkably only four of them were actually branded Mecklenburger. There were 22 Hanoverians, 12 Oldenburgs and 8 Holsteiners presented for licensing trying their luck for licensing in Redefin. Mecklenburg is a small, show jumper oriented breeding area in Germany, which relies heavily on the influx of horses and business from Schockemohle's Mecklenburg based breeding station Gestut Lewitz.
At this year's licensing six stallions in total made it to the premium ring of which only two were dressage bred.
Wederman's Don Frederico bested the dressage field. He is owned by Paul Schochemohle. The big stallion mogul also bred the reserve champion, the typey liver chestnut Skyfall (by Sir Donnerhall I x Royal Hit x Dream of Heidelberg I) which is owned by Dr. Kerstin Klieber.
The show jumping licensing champion was Clueso (by Catoki x Cassini I), which will stand at stud in Prussendorf.
