Discovery, Lord Carnaby and Furst Piccolo's Junior were the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes at the regional show in Neuss-Grefrath on 19 May 2012. With 38 horses entered in two age classes this 2012 BuCha qualifier was a hotly contesting competition. The 5-year old division was split into two groups.
Heiner Schiergen and the Oldenburg bred Discovery (by Dimaggio x Classiker) dominated the first group of 5-year olds with a firm score of 8.4 points. Matthias Bouthen and the Rhinelander brander Feedback (by Fidertanz x Sandro Hit) was second with 8.2. Three horses tied in third place on a score of 8.0. They were Christina Stamm on the Oldenburg Duty Free (by Danone x Sunny Boy), Laura Stigler on the Hanoverian Double You (by Don Romantic x Rohdiamant) and Wibke Stommel on the Westfalian licensed stallion Silbermond (by Sir Donnerhall x Ramiro's Son).
In group 2 of the 5-year olds Beatrice Buchwald and Manfred Hödl's Rhinelander stallion Lord Carnaby (by Lord Loxley x Rocket Star) topped the leader board with an 8.3 score. Hof Kasselmann's in-house rider Eva Möller was able to finish second with 8.1. on her two horses, Hands Up (by Hotline) and High Five (by Hochadel).
Nine 6-year olds contested each other in their age division but none were able to achieve the necessary qualification score of 8.0 or higher. The winner of the class was Silke Fütterer on the Westfalian bred Furst Piccolos Junior (by Furst Piccolo) with 7.6. Former European Pony Champion and Under 25 Grand Prix rider Katharina Winkelhues slotted in second with the German Sport Horse Sans Souci (by Samba Hit I) on a score of 7.5.
