Dutch Olympic silver medalist Adelinde Cornelissen has been nominated for the 2012 Dutch Female Athlete of the Year Award, which is handed out at the annual gala ball of the Dutch Olympic Sports Committee (NOC-NSF).
The Gala evening will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on18 December 2012.
Cornelissen is praised for her "talent, commitment and passion". In her bio profile on the NOC website, the committee wrote that "she trained many hours on fitness, balance, strength and posture in Heerenveen. An eye-opener for her sport, which led to Olympic successes."
Cornelissen is getting fierce competition from Olympic gold medal winning Ranomi Kromowidjojo (tennis), Marianne Vos (cycling), and sailing World Champion and Olympic silver medalist Marit Bouwmeester.
