Australian 2008 Olympic team and 2010 WEG team rider Hayley Beresford has acquired a half share in the ownership of the Australian bred Hanoverian Jaybee Alabaster.
Beresford started riding the now 14-year old Jaybee Alabaster (by Alabaster x Glorieux) in the summer of 2012 after his former rider Rachael Sanna, née Downs, left the horse in Europe after a failed campaign at the 2012 World Cup Finals and a divorce from her husband George Sanna.
Owned by Bev Edwards, Alabaster was re-assigned to Beresford, who took a great competition start on the horse. With each show the scores were climbing and at the CDI Oldenburg the pair even scored 72.467 % in the Special.
Jaybee Alabaster was for sale, but Beresford decided to buy a half share in the horse.
"Basti will stay on with me and I am now a half owner," Beresford told Eurodressage. I decided that he is a handy horse to have in my stable that I thoroughly enjoy."
Hayley had been competing the licensed breeding stallion Belissimo M (by Beltain x Romadour II) for an Olympic berth in 2012 but was refused on the team by the Australian selectors. For the 2013 show season Hayley will now have two irons in the fire.
"With Belissimo's intensive breeding schedule it is nice to have an alternative to show as well," she confirmed.
