The 20-year old Sanneke Rothenberger has officially declared herself as a senior rider and has said bye bye to the Young Riders' division, even though she's eligible to compete in them for one last year in 2012.
German junior and young rider team trainer Hans-Heinrich Meyer zu Strohen requested if Sanneke is up for team German selection for the 2013 European Young Riders Championships to be held in Compiegne, France, in July, but Rothenberger has confirmed she will no longer be competing at Young Riders' level as well as in the mandatory Preis der Besten selection trial. Instead she is going to focus on her Grand Prix career.
With 18 championships medals earned during her pony, junior and young riders' career as of 2005, Rothenberger started competing in the Under 25 Grand Prix classes with Deveraux and Wolke Sieben in 2012. This year she made her show debut on Grand Prix schoolmaster Favourit.
"Sanneke is feeling better and better at Grand Prix level and that's why we regret to bring her horses back down one level," the Rothenberger family stated. "For Sanneke it's not about winning medals, but about developing herself in the sport. She continues to develop every day and we are excited to see which limits she will touch upon."
