With American dressage rider Silva Martin conscious and slowly recovering from a freak riding accident in which she sustained a head injury, Wellington based dressage riders are visiting the German born rider who is hospitalized at the Delray Medical Centre.

Jessica Jo Tate and Allison Brock visited Martin and described her state as following: "she is drowsy and seems like she is just waking up from the best nap ever (you know the ones where u just can't seem to get back out of bed & get super alert? Yep that's where she is at) but she is cognitive of things when she is awake and moves her legs around fine in bed, holds her own glass of water and has no pain."

U.S. team trainer Robert Dover reported that Silva's busband Boyd said, "she was good. I mean she is very sleepy but we talked a little & quite cognitive. Still has eye patch on because she is seeing double. Can move around in bed & walk to the bathroom with help. Told her the whole world is praying & sending love! She said that this sucks."

Silva is hoping to move to the rehab center next door to the hospital on Tuesday 11 March, but every day is a new day and she needs to take it one day at a time.
