Danish princess Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein has made it a double at the CDI Doha for the second consecutive year. The German based royal won the Grand Prix and Kur to Music at the 2014 CDI Doha hosted at the Al Shaqab equestrian centre in Qatar and is taking home one of the biggest purses on the dressage scene.
By scoring a whopping 80.875% in the Kur to Music Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein bagged her second victory of the weekend on her 17-year old Danish bred Digby (by Donnerhall x Sandro) and collects 30,000 € prize money.
Nathalie said, “it's a fantastic experience to win for the second time! I look forward to come back next year, but with a younger horse to use the opportunity to train it.”
Danish Lone Bang Larsen finished second in the Kur with her bay gelding Fitou L (by Florestan). She scored only a fraction less with her personal best kur score of 79.200%. “This is my first time here in Doha," Bang Larsen explained. "Yesterday was great and today is even better. I really hope to come back next year. Everything from start to finish is perfectly organized.”
Swedish Patrik Kittel rode his wife's Swedish bred Toy Story (by Come Back II) to a third place in the freestyle with 77.450%. Kittel said that "this is my second year together with Princess Nathalie, but she beat me again. I hope to have a re-match next year. Actually I am going to challenge both Danish girls next year!”
