The 6-year old Hanoverian licensed premium stallion Conen has been gelded following a severe colic attack at the beginning of June. The dark bay stallion is stationed at Johann Hinnemann's Krusterhof in Voerde.

Conen is bred by Hubert Knigge and is by Chequille Z out of Lakonia (by Landclassic x Grandenstern). He was presented at the 2010 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing by Johannes Westendarp.

Conen sold to Training Stable Inholte GmbH and did his 30-day Stallion Performance Testing in Schlickau, where he scored the highest dressage index. Under Karin Schulze Topphoff  he finished 4th at the 2011 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf.

At the beginning of this month, Conen suffered a severe colic attack and was immediately transported to the equine clinic, where he was operated on. As the volvulus had already dropped into the scrotum, it was decided to geld the stallion. The veterinarians want to prevent further complications and save the horse so had to castrate him.

Conen has returned to Krusterhof, where he will continue his career as a dressage horse.
