Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival will not be competing at the 2014 Dutch Dressage Championships in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, this weekend. The pair has withdrawn from this mandatory Dutch WEG team selection event but their team spot is not at risk.
According to Dutch equestrian magazine De Hoefslag, this decision was made after consulting team trainer Wim Ernes. The busy show schedule in the lead up to the 2014 World Equestrian Games was cited as reason for Parzival's withdrawal.
Cornelissen and her 17-year old Parzival have only competed at three CDI shows this 2014 season; Arnheim, Rotterdam and Aachen which took place within a 6 week time period from begin June to mid July.
The format for the 2014 Dutch Championships was already changed with the WEG in mind, with combinations only required to ride two tests instead of three to determine the 2014 Dutch champion.
At Aachen Parzival looked unusually fatigued in the Grand Prix Special and Kur to Music due to extreme heat and the pair has now withdrawn from Hoofddorp.
