Helen Langehanenberg's first big international Grand Prix horse, Responsible, has passed away at age 15 after a freak accident. The mare was taken out of her stall and out of the blue her leg fractured. She could not be saved.
The Oldenburg mare was bred and owned by Gabriele Mertens-Gahlen and was by Rohdiamant out of Frappant (by Freudenprinz x Roussau).
The 1999 born black mare Responsible OLD made her big break through under Langehanenberg in 2006. They were third in the 2006 Nurnberger Burgpokal finals, and moved up to Grand Prix. They were German team reserves for the 2008 Olympic Games. Their last results include a second place at the 2011 World Cup Qualifier in Odense and a fourth place in Stockholm. They were 13th at the 2011 German Dressage Championships.
The mare was retired in February 2013 at age 13. She started her career as a broodmare and in 2013 she gave birth to a colt.
Responsible won over 80,000 euro in prize money during her show career.
