Häwelmann, the 2011 Trakehner Stallion Licensing Champion, has passed away. The 5-year old dark bay stallion did not survive "a routine" operation" as stated by his owner Jens Thorsen.
Bred by Ilsemarie Peters, Häwelmann was by Hofrat out of Heavenly (by Artistic Rock x Fahnenträger II).
Displaying great versatility in dressage and show jumping, Häwelmann was named champion of the licensing in Neumunster in 2011 and sold at auction for 140,000 euro to Gestut Pallerhof in Luxembourg.
The stallion was trained and competed by Danish Kristine Moller. The pair contested the Bundeschampionate qualifier at the national show in Perl-Borg and finished third with 7.1.
The stallion was operated on but did not survive it. "An accident happened during a routine operation," Thorsen explained. "His sudden death is a great loss."
