The British Equestrian Federation paid tribute to John McEwen MBE, FEI Vice President and Chair of the FEI Veterinary Committee, for outstanding achievement and contribution to the international equestrian world at the 2014 CDI-W London on Sunday 21 December 2014.

McEwen was presented with a Medal of Honour for his service to the sport and the British Equestrian Federation. The medals were awarded by BEF Chairman Keith Taylor.

John McEwen has been at the very heart of international equestrian sport in Great Britain since the 1990’s and the World Class Programme since its inception. An outstanding ambassador for the sport at home and on the world stage, his work as team veterinarian with GB showjumping and dressage squads and as World Class Director of Equine Sports Science and Science Medicine, has contributed greatly to the preparation of Britain’s elite horses.

McEwen also ran for FEI President this year but at the 2014 FEI General Assembly in Baku (AZE) in December, Belgian Ingmar de Vos - the FEI secertary-general - was elected.
