Danish former Grand Prix team rider and Olympian Andreas Helgstrand has made his show debut on Sieger Hit at the German regional show in Hanerau-Hademaschen on 12 June 2016.
Sieger Hit (by Sandro hit x Donnerhall x Classiker) was the 2007 Oldenburg Licensing Champion but got gelded in 2013. The horse was started by Eckhard Wahlers and then moved to Helgstrand's yard where he was trained for nearly two years. Juliane Brunkhorst took over the ride in 2012 and competed him at international Grand Prix level. At the beginning of June 2016 Brunkhorst suddenly lost the ride as Danish owner Jens Peter Aggesen decided to take the horse back to Helgstrand.
Helgstrand has now competed the 11-year bay gelding for the first time in Hanerau-Hademaschen. The pair won the Grand Prix, which was judged by Cornelia Albrecht, Ursula Wolgast and Gabriele von Appen. The Danish duo scored 70.467% with marks ranging from 68.00% to 72.000%. Twelve combinations competed in this Grand Prix class.
This year Helgstrand has begun competing at international Grand Prix level again after a break of almost one year. Andreas disclosed to Eurodressage that his efforts on either NOH's Daijoubo (CDIO Odense in May) or on Sieger Hit are with the aim of qualifying on the Danish Olympic team.
"Yes, I want to ride the Danish Championship (Olympic qualifier), but it is too late to qualify for the Olympics, sadly," Helgstrand told Eurodressage. "I am also going to ride NOH Daijoubo at the Championship but not for Olympics."
