Swedish FEI dressage riders Josefin Gyllensward and Amanda Eklund and jumping rider Jenny Johansson became the recipients of the 2016 Ajax Stipend, which was announced at the 2016 CDIO Falsterbo in Sweden on 9 July 2016.
The annual Ajax recipients are chosen by founder Ulla Håkanson in co-operation with Jan Brink, Kyra Kyrklund and Eva-Karin Oskarsson.
This year the scholarship was awarded for the twelfth time and each recipient received a cheque of approximately 21,000 euro to spend on furthering their dressage training and competition career in the next two years.
The 23-year old Uppsala based veterinary student Amanda Eklund will be spending her money on a training stint hopefully with Carl Hester or Kyra Kyrklund in the U.K. Eklund is competing Sambucus at Grand Prix level.
The 24-year old Josefin Gyllensward lives in the U.K. and has been training with David Hunt and Nicky Barrett. She will be moving back to Sweden near Gothenburg and wants to bring her British trainers' duo over for regular clinics. Aboard Don Angelo she represented Sweden at the 2016 European Under 25 Championships.
