A colt by Quaterhall x Sungold became the top seller at the second Bavarian Elite Foal Auction held in Munich on 10 September 2016. Twenty-seven foals were offered for sale and only one sold for more than 10,000 euro.
Bred by Lisa Schindele, the dark bay colt by Quaterhall x Sungold sold for 12,000 euro to Joe Albert from Munich.
The second most expensive foal was a dark bay colt by Diamond Hit x Johnson, bred by Reinhard Rauch. He switched owners for 9,500 euro.
The Westfalian stallion rearer Antonius Schulze-Averdiek bought a colt by Veneziano x Ampere, bred by Reiner Lechl, for 8,200 euro, and a dark bay colt by Bernay x Fidertanz, bred by Anton Hirschberger, for 5,750 euro.
Two foals sold for 6,500 euro: a dark bay colt by For Romance x Stedinger and a dark bay filly by Bailando x Imperio.
Three Bavarian horse breeders were honoured at this auction for breeding Olympic horses. Clemens and Ferdinant Helbach were honoured for breeding French team horse After You (by Abanos) and Martin Niedermair was honoured for breeding Spanish team horse Lorenzo (by Lord Loxley).
The average price for a foal at this auction was 5,179 euro.
