Pony rider Mia Zamperetti, children's rider Maria Vitoria Duranti, junior rider Lucia Berni, young rider Valentina Remold, under 25 rider Alice Campanella, and senior Grand Prix rider Micol Rustignoli were the winners of the technical part of the 2016 Italian Dressage Championships held at sporting club Paradisa in Caselle di Sommacampagna, Italy, on 29 September - 2 October 2016.
The Italian Dressage Championships are divided into two parts, a technical championship based on the two classical tests (team test, individual) and a separate freestyle championship based on the results achieved in the Kur to Music. Throughout all the divisions the technical gold medalists were the same as in the freestyle.
In the Pony division Mia Zamperetti and the 13-year old German bred Chantre's Held (by Chantre B x Nibelungen) took Technical gold with a winning team test (68.462%) and individual (69.585%) as well as Kur Gold with a winning freestyle score of 71.350%. Double silver went to Ludovica Perbellini on the 10-year old Dutch bred Casper F (by Wengelo's Ricardo x Bjirmen's Wytse), who scored 66.436%, 66.268% and 69.525%. Martina Scoccio secured the Technical bronze aboard the 13-yeard old Real Nice Boy (by Ricardo Go for Gold x Nixen), while the kur bronze went to Alessandro Mauro on the 15-year old Danny Boy (by Douglas x Mozart).
In the Children's division Maria Vittoria Duranti and the 11-year old Hanoverian mare Coco Fee (by Chico's Boy) got the technical gold with a winning 70.667 and 69.844%. Alessia Volpini and the 12-year old mare May landed silver with 65.900% and 67.625%. Caterina Neri and the 7-year old Dutch warmblood Entertainer (by Sorento x Jazz) finished on bronze with 65.600% and 65.125%.
In the junior division Lucia Berni and her 13-year old grey Westfalian Ebony (by Ehrentusch x Dunhill) topped the board for Technical and Kur gold with 68.541%, 70.132%, and 74.150%. Viola Lucrezia Sansone and her new ride, the 10-year old Oldenburg Fiero OLD (by Fidertanz x Sandro Hit), secured Technical silver with 67.649% and 68.447%, and Kur bronze with 68.500%. Beatrice Arturi and the 9-year old Westfalian Le Bom (by Louis Le Bon x Pit) landed the technical bronze after scoring 64.459% in the team test and 68.605% in the individual. The pair also earned Kur silver with 68.775%.
At young riders level Valentina Remold wielded the axe of power on the 10-year old Dutch warmblood Broadway (by Vivaldi). The won technical gold with 68.763% and 70.684% and kur gold with 73.850%. Francesco Neri and his Grand Prix schoolmaster Raffaldo, an 18-year old Danish gelding by Come Back II x Raffaelli Z, won technical silver with 66.474% and 67.368%. The kur silver went to former Italian team rider Camilla Mauro on Santo Stefano Francis (by Fabriano x Wenzel) who scored a second place with her 68.625% earning freestyle. Mauro also landed technical bronze with 65.763% and 66.526%. The kur bronze was won by Rebecca Teresa Brugnoli on the 8-year old Hanoverian First Love (by Farewell III x De Niro) with 68.450%.
Three riders competed for the Under 25 Championships and double gold was won by Alice Campanella on the 17-year old Dutch schoolmaster Stallone (by Lancet). The pair scored 68.132% in the Intermediaire II, 68.767% in the Short Grand Prix and 70.150% in the Kur to Music. Valentina Croce and the 19-year old Westfalian gelding Nirvana XV (by Newcastle) earned double silver with 65.526%, 64.233% and 66.925%. Giulia Eva di Mauro and the 16-year old Dutch warmblood Tinus (by Kennedy x Nabuur) finished on double bronze with 64.368%, 60.419% and 62.325%.
At senior Grand Prix level Micol Rustignoli scored double gold aboard her 17-year old Italian warmblood Corallo Nero (by Sherwood x Landadel). The pair scored 68.100% in the Grand Prix, 69.020% in the Special and 73.625% in the Kur to Music. Polish born Anna Paprocka-Campanella and the 13-year old Westfalian mare Loreley (by Larenco x Polydor) won technical silver with a 4th place in the Grand Prix (65.200%) and a second place in the Special (66.471%). Ester Soldi and her 18-year old Polish bred Harmonia (by Lord Alexander x Hars) earned technical asilver with a second place in the Grand Prix (65.920%), a fourth in the Special (65.647%). She also got kur silver with a third place in the kur (69.025%), even though Irish born James Connor scored the second highest freestyle mark with his 71.975% aboard the show jumping bred 9-year old Dutch warmblood Casino Royal (by Lupicor x Quick Star). Connor's score, however, did not count for the championship and podium place as the Italian based rider has declared for Ireland, which means that the fourth highest scoring freestyle rider, Leonardo Tiozzo on the 12-year old Hanoverian bred Black Desert (by Desert Moon x Hohenstein), got the kur bronze medal with 68.275%.
