The Trakehner licensed breeding stallion Artistic-Rock has passed away at age 24 on 28 September 2016. He died at his Dutch owner's yard Castle Boxbergen in The Netherlands.
Artistic-Rock was bred by Willi Holz in Germany and was by Rockefeller out of Akazie VI (by Seeadler x Italiener x Pergamos). He descended from the Alwina dam line.
The stallion was licensed at the 1994 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, Germany and did his 100-day Stallion Performance Test in Warendorf in 1995. He scored 108.63 points for dressage (6thà and 100.75 points for jumping (11th) to finish 9th out of 20 participating stallions with 106.38 index points.
He sold as a 6-year old to the Dutch rider Alwiene Nuy. He sustained a major injury when he was shooling at M-level but with good care and lots of hand walking, he recovered fully and competed up to small tour level and schooled the Grand Prix movements.
Artistic-Rock was retired from sport in 2005 when he was diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia. His rider Alwiene Nuy saw her own riding career curtailed because of Lyme's disease.
Artistic-Rock mainly stood up for stud in The Netherlands. In Germany he only sired only 16 registered broodmares of which seven are state premium. Daughter Heavenly is the dam of the late Trakehner licensing champion Häwelmann, who has a licensed full brother named Hopkins.
"Rocky is irreplaceable," said Nuy about the passing of her stallion. "He was incredibly reliable family horse with which I had an unprecedented connection. I'm incredibly happy that our paths crossed and I'm intensely saddened that he has passed away."
