German 4* dressage judge Martin Richenhagen has announced his resignation as an FEI judge. Richenhagen, who is based in Duluth (GA, USA), last officiated at an internationald dressage event at the CDI Donaueschingen in September 2014.
He has now announced that he will resign as a judge on 31 December 2017 because of his "many important business related new responsibilities.
The 65-year old Martin Richenhagen has been the CEO of the American branch of AGCO-Fendt for the past 12 years and is also chair of the board. AGCO is a global player in the design, manufacture and distribution of agricultural equipment. In September 2016 former U.S. president Barack Obama appointed Richenhagen on the President's Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa.
Martin Richenhagen caused quite a stir in Germany when he judged at the 2011 German Dressage Championships and remarkably overscored Matthias Rath and Totilas in several movements that didn't go as well as planned. Besides being a 4* dressage judge, Martin has also been the German Grand Prix team chef d'equipe and is a jumping and dressage steward.
Martin's brother Reinhard Richenhagen is still active as an international 3* dressage judge. Reinhard also serves on the selection panel for picking the German combinations for the World Young Horse Championships.
