Helen Langehanenberg and the Hanoverian stallion Damsey have finally found their stride and boked their first international victory in a year, acing the Grand Prix Kur to Music at the 2017 CDI Mannheim on Sunday 7 May 2017. With a big score of 80.350% Langehanenberg achieved a personal best score on her number one Grand Prix ride.
Nine riders opted to contest the Grand Prix Freestyle in Mannheim and the Billerbeck based Langehanenberg and her 15-year old Dressage Royal x Ritual offspring bested the field ahead of Beatrice Buchwald on Daily Pleasure (by De Niro) with 76.750% and Hendrik Lochthowe on Boston (by Johnson x Partout) with 76.025%.
Langehanenberg took over the ride on Louise Leatherdale's Damsey in 2016 when Steffen Frahm took on the job as assistant trainer at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen. Exactly one year ago in Mannheim, Helen and Damsey scored their first international victories and since then have been scoring between 65.740% and 75.140% in the Grand Prix. The 2017 CDI Mannheim became their personal best scoring event both in the Grand Prix and freestyle.
"I'm very happy with Damsey's rides yesterday and today and his 80% today is a record for us in an international test," said Helen. "Damsey was super fresh and did not show any weaknesses."
