An Isabell Werth's schooling session on an unidentified bay horse drew the attention of the crowds and photographers at the 2017 CDI Munich on Friday 26 May 2017. The Grand Prix schooling bay has quickly been spotted as Lisa Müller's Stand By Me.
The 10-year old Oldenburg bred Stand By Me is bred by Helmut Kleen and owned by Werth's student Lisa Müller. He is by Stedinger out of Uthene (by De Niro x Ponticello xx x Figaro).
Stand By Me was discovered as a youngster by the Austrian Sandra Nuxoll (née Kopf) and first competed in 2012. They represented Germany at the 2012 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, where they finished 11th in the Finals.
In 2013 Isabel Freese took over the ride for one year and competed the horse at the 2013 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf, where it finished 12th in the Finals. Nuxoll was back on the saddle in 2014 and took the horse to small tour level through 2015, after which it sold to Lisa Müller.
Lisa competed Stand By Me at small tour level in regional shows in south Germany. Müller began training with Isabell Werth in the spring of 2016 and Stand By Me is now being schooled to Grand Prix.
Müller told Eurodressage that Werth will introduce Stand By Me to Grand Prix level shows this season to give the horse experience and mileage with a professional first. "It's easier for a young horse to start with a good rider," Müller told Eurodressage with a wink. Werth will aim for the Louisdor Cup qualifiers with Stand By Me.
